Baramulla, Apr 15 (KNO): Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary on Wednesday said that violence in the name of religion or caste will not be tolerated in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to reporters in Kunzer, the Deputy CM, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said recent incidents of violence are deeply concerning and must not be allowed to disrupt the social fabric of the region. “Jammu and Kashmir is known for harmony, not lawlessness. Such acts raise serious questions and cannot be accepted,” he said. Referring to the killing of a child, he termed the incident as tragic and said justice must be delivered at the earliest. “The loss of a child cannot be compensated. Those involved must be given strict punishment. We expect the police to act firmly,” he said. The Deputy Chief Minister expressed hope that such incidents would not be repeated in the future and said it should serve as a wake-up call to maintain peace and unity. Taking a dig at the BJP, he alleged that during its tenure benefits were extended to select sections and land was allotted to big hotels. He said such decisions should be examined. He said the National Conference has always stood with the poor, farmers and labourers and remains committed to addressing public issues—(KNO)
